Registered apprenticeship Community of practice

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) is working with the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) to take an honest, full look at how well registered apprenticeship (RA) and Minnesota's workforce system work together. We're asking you to help by completing a short statewide assessment and sharing it with your networks.

 How to take the assessment

Why this matters

This assessment sets Minnesota's baseline as it will show where RA and WIOA already connect as one system and where they don't. The results will decide where technical assistance, policy changes and other support are most needed over the next year. That includes:

  • Policy recommendations based on what has worked in peer states

  • A clearer path for listing apprenticeship programs on the Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL)

  • A plain-language guide to using WIOA funds to support apprentices and sponsors

  • Training and technical assistance for local workforce boards and CareerForce staff

Who should respond

We want to hear from everyone in the system, whether or not you work with apprenticeship today. That includes case managers, business services representatives, workforce board members, contracted providers and employers.
